Sweet treats for children who are healthy can be hard to come by, healthy treats that the kids actually like even more difficult. This recipe has been tried and tested by a part of the blogging community all around the world and as far as I can tell is universal children were struck and parents with. The muffins are moist and keep for a few days, a good crust and flavor and as quickly devoured, to receive as they have cooled enough to eat. Mums like them because the yoghurtand oatmeal ingredients spell Nutrition with a capital N, kids like them because they taste so good and they do not really see you putting that healthy stuff when you're baked. If your kids are picky and recoil in horror from such things as yogurt and oatmeal, they present with the baked muffins without telling them what them in!
You can experiment with your own taste. I used banana and cinnamon for mine, as that was what I had in the house and pick up my children becauseeat raisins from each cheek, a trail of crumbs around the house, or a bunch of raisins and crumbs for myself in Hoovermum mode. I want to try with nuts, but again only one child loves nuts would then travel through the same ... I do believe that would be chocolate chip will be fine but if I only a few in the house!
Yogurt and oatmeal muffin recipe
1 cup unsweetened plain yogurt
1 cup rolled oats
1 egg
½ cup vegetable oilOil
½ cup sugar
1 ¼ cups flour self-
1 ripe banana mashed
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Alternative flavor combinations:
Instead of the banana and cinnamon try
1 teaspoon vanilla extract and ½ cup chocolate chips or
½ cup mixed nuts and raisins
or make your own variation with whatever berries and fruits are in season.
Mix yogurt and oats and let them soak in the refrigerator for a half andHour. After soaking, playing in the egg, sugar, and have the oil and the flour with the ingredients to taste what combination you chose.
Spoon the mixture into a greased muffin tray. You get either 12 large muffins or 24 small ones. If you are baking them for lunch boxes it is a good idea, the muffin tins with paper cases line. Bake at 200C / 400F for 15-20 minutes, until the top is elastic to the touch and golden brown.
Small muffins are excellentSchool lunch boxes if there are any left. They also solve the eternal dilemma of contributions to the school and class bake sales events when teachers ask for healthy food only, but will take your child something delicious - if you the teacher, what are the muffins they ensure that, as Count to say well, just use raisins and nuts instead of chocolate chips in this case!
