3 medium apples, halved lengthwise
About 48 miniature marshmallows
2 ounces Mexican chocolate, chopped,melted

Sweet Tips for less sugar, baking

As we move into the fall season, we are all beginning to come into the baking mood. I wanted to share my experience with baking with less sugar and sugar substitutes. My goal is to deliver healthy options that taste great too.

Sugar - More than a sweet taste

As a teaching healthy cooking classes, I tell my students they have to consider all the qualities a particular ingredient recipe brings before making a substitution or elimination. Thisis especially true when it comes to baking sugar and sugar because gives a lot just his sweet flavor to recipes over. sugar and other natural sweeteners like honey, molasses, syrup and even fruit juices can also help to texture, structure, volume, color, moisture and tenderness to baked goods, while most sugar substitutes do not.

When selecting a sugar substitute to be sure it is heat stable. can sucralose (Splenda), acesulfame-K (Diabetisweet) and Stevia (Stevita, Truvia) can withstand baking temperatures. Aspartame (Equal) can not.
For muffins and cakes, a bit of extra yeast is required. A good rule of thumb is to either 1 / 2 teaspoon baking powder or 1 / 4 teaspoon baking powder and add an extra1 / 2 teaspoon baking soda for each cup of sugar replaced.
With a small amount of brown sugar or adding only a teaspoon or two of molasses will help the traditional color and moisture of cakes or biscuits.
To adjust for less dough (like you did when you eliminate most of the sugar), use a smaller cake or bread pan and expect a lower yield of muffins or cookies.
To ensure smooth drop cookies before baking them even with the ground glass or spatula. For the crispiestCookies replace only half the usual sugar.
A bit more spice and flavors such as cinnamon and vanilla enhance the taste of sugar reduced baked goods.
Low-sugar baked goods are baked faster. Check the cake from 7 to 10 minutes earlier than usual, muffins and quick breads up to 5 minutes, and cookies from 3 to 5 minutes.
Wrap leftover healthy reduced-sugar baked goods tightly with plastic wrap or foil and eat within 1-2 days as it can spoil quickly. Muffins, cakes and breads freeze quicklygood.

Holiday Appetizer Recipes

These five appetizer recipes would be a great addition to any Thanksgiving or Christmas potluck.

Recipe: Crab Canoe Snap Pea

8 ounces snap peas

8 ounces crab meat

4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature

1 green onion with top, cut into one-inch pieces

1 t lemon juice

1 t Dijon mustard

Heat a liter of water to a boil. Add the peas and blanch for a minute. Drain, then place in ice water for one minute, then drain again.They carefully cut a slot in the straight side of each snap peas, then set aside. The rest of the ingredients in a food processor and pulse until smooth. Place the crab mixture into a Ziploc bag and cut a small triangle from the corner pocket. With one hand to hold a snap pea, so that the gap opens then fill with the crab mixture.

If your family does not like seafood try to take this variation:

Recipe: Snap Pea cheese canoes

8 ounces snap peas

4 ounces creamCheese, room temperature

2 T chopped chives

½ t garlic salt

Recipe: sweet potato rounds with roasted garlic and feta

2 large sweet potatoes, sliced into ¼-inch thick

2 large heads of garlic

2 T + 1 t olive oil, split

1 t salt 1 teaspoon dried sage

¼ C crumbled feta cheese

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. the sweet potato slices in a bowl with 2 T olive oil, salt,and sage and stir to coat. Place the slices in a single layer on two baking sheets. Place each head of garlic on a square of aluminum foil. Drizzle olive oil 1 t of the two heads of garlic, then wrap with aluminum foil and both the baking sheets. Roast for 10 minutes, turning the slices, then fry for another 10-20 minutes until the slices are brown on the edges. Remove from the oven.

Turn the oven to cook. Press enter the roasted garlic in a bowl and mash coarsely.Spread mashed garlic to the sweet potato rounds and then add a little crumbled feta in each round. Grill for about 2 minutes.

Recipe: Bruschetta Bites

1 tube of crescent dough

4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature

1 T mayonnaise

1 clove garlic, finely chopped

20 whole fresh basil leaves

3 small, sweet tomatoes, cut into thin slices

Parmesan cheese, thinly sliced

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Take the crescent doughfrom the tube, but just to make it into the tube. Slice into ¼-inch rounds and in a single layer on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, about 11 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Mix the cream cheese, mayonnaise, and garlic. Spread each round of dough with cheese mixture, then cut with a layer of basil leaf, a tomato and a slice of Parmesan.

Recipe: Quick & Easy Butternut hummus

1 pumpkin, about 2 pounds

2 garlic cloves

½ CTahini

¼ C olive oil

2 tablespoons lemon juice

½ teaspoon salt

½ t paprika

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Cut the pumpkin in half and cut-side down on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes. Scoop the flesh of the pumpkin from the skin and in a food processor. Add remaining ingredients and pulse until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Serve with pita bread. A wonderful vegetarian appetizer packed with fall flavor!

How to Make Old Fashion Biscuits and Yeast Rolls Using Grandma's Recipes

There's just nothing like Grandma's Old Fashion Yeast Rolls and Biscuits. They are not hard to make, yes, even you can do it. Try this recipe for very easy Sweet Cream Biscuits used by many grandmothers years ago and they are delicious. The Cornmeal Biscuits recipe is from an old childhood friend's grandmother and is an interesting combination of flour and cornmeal. The Homemade Yeast Rolls recipe is from my mother-in-law.

SWEET CREAM BISCUITS

2 cups sifted flour
1 cup sweet cream
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp butter
2 tsp baking powder

Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder into a mixing bowl. Cut in the butter. Add cream and mix quickly. Roll out dough on floured surface and cut with biscuit cutter. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.

CORNMEAL BISCUITS

This recipe is from an old childhood friend.

2/3 cup yellow corn meal
2/3 cup milk
2/3 cup sifted flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup shortening

Soak cornmeal in milk for 10 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a medium mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles dry corn meal. Add the cornmeal mixture and blend all together. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes until lightly browned.

GRANDMA WILSON'S HOMEMADE YEAST ROLLS

This recipe is from my mother-in-law.

2 cups warm water (not hot)
2 pkgs dry yeast
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
1/4 cup soft or liquid shortening
1 egg, beaten
6 1/2 to 7 cups flour

Put warm water in a mixing bowl and add yeast, sugar, salt, and egg; mix well. Add 4 cups of flour and mix with a large spoon. Gradually add remaining flour and mix by hand till mixture is neither sticky or dry. Cover with a clean dish cloth and allow to rise until double in size. Punch down the dough and make into rolls about 1 1/2-inches in diameter. Allow dough to rise again. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

Chicken Recipe - Honey Baked Chicken

Chicken is such a versatile meat and baking it is one of the simplest ways to cook it. If you want to try a delicious baked chicken recipe, what about using honey to add sweetness to the bird? The Recipe, Step by Step

The following recipe makes enough for six people and you can serve it with mashed potatoes or rice. There are only six ingredients in this recipe but do not be deceived by that. The taste is perfectly balanced and really mouthwatering. Use mild or hot curry powder depending on your personal preference.

What you will need:


3 lbs chicken pieces
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons prepared mustard

How to make it:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Arrange the chicken skin side up in a shallow baking pan. Stir together the honey, butter, curry powder, salt and mustard and pour this over the meat. Bake for about seventy five minutes, basting the bird every fifteen minutes until it is golden brown and tender.

Healthy Snacks - 4 Quick and Easy Sweet Low-Calorie Recipes That Can Be Done in Almost No Time

Mix 250 g fresh raspberries, 2 tablespoons honey and 1 tablespoon lemon juice in your blender until smooth. This will be enough to make a small snack for four. Pour the puree over 2 small scoops low-fat vanilla ice-cream per person. Your kids will love it and you don't have to worry about calories.

Fruit with chocolate sauce

Another recipe your kids will love: Heat up 250 ml low-fat milk until it boils. Mix 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder and 7 g cornflour with a bit of cold milk until smooth. Add to the hot milk, bring to boil and allow to simmer for a few minutes until the mixture thickens. Pour the sauce over any fruit you like. You can prepare the chocolate sauce in advance and keep it in the fridge until you need it. If you wish to sweeten it, add 1 tablespoon of honey whilst it's still hot.

The easiest way to create sweet healthy snacks is to use fruit which is naturally sweet and does not need any added sugar. Sugary Sweet Emergency Recipe Substitutions or Ingredient Equivalents for Sugars and Molasses

It's a treat baking sweets, but running out of a crucial recipe ingredient can really gum up the works. Knowing an ingredient's "equivalent" or substitution can save the day. Many cake and cookie recipes can be adapted by using modern sweeteners if you don't have ingredients called for in vintage cookbooks or grandma's desert recipe. Today, Mom helps cooks in the kitchen with tips on granulated, brown, powdered sugars, and molasses.

Granulated Sugar - Most sugar is made from sugar cane or sugar beets. The plants are juiced, the liquid is boiled several times to separate out the molasses and the remaining clear liquid is crystallized into the familiar white granules on our tables. If you don't have 1 cup granulated sugar use 1 cup packed brown sugar OR instead of 1 cup granulated sugar use 2 cups powdered sugar.

You can also substitute sweet syrups for granulated sugars, but you'll need to remove some of the liquid in your recipe to maintain the correct moisture level. If you are baking it helps to add a leavening agent like baking soda. If you don't have the soda and you are not baking, then you can probably leave it out and still be ok. But this may effect texture and cooking times, so keep a closer eye on your creation.

If you don't have 1 cup granulated sugar use 1 cup honey + 1/4 tsp soda and reduce the liquid in the recipe by 1/4 cup. Honey is sweeter than granulated sugar. Or, instead of 1 cup granulated sugar use 1 1/2 cups molasses plus 1/4 tsp baking soda and reduce the liquid in the recipe by 1/4 cup. 1 pound (package) granulated sugar = about 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar.

Powdered Sugar - Superfine or powdered sugar is granulated sugar that has been spun into a powder. Used for a slightly smoother texture especially in frostings and fluffy meringues. When measuring you'll need slightly more powdered to make up for its fine grain. If you don't have 2 cups powdered sugar use 1 cup granulated. 1 pound (package) of powdered sugar = about 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar, unsifted (not packed).

Confectioner's Sugar - Confectioners sugar has been processed past the powdered sugar phase, into an even finer powder. Today the terms are used interchangeably, so check your packaging.

Brown Sugar - Brown sugar or sugar in the raw, has slightly more brown syrup, or molasses than white granulated sugar and is slightly less sweet. As a result, brown sugar has a smokier flavor and darker color. Golden brown sugar has less molasses than dark brown sugar. The two can be used interchangeably, but note the darker sugar will have a richer flavor and color and is generally better if you're cooking pork.

If you don't have brown sugar use granulated sugar instead using the exact same measurements. You can also make brown sugar by combining 1 cup sugar with 1/2 cup molasses, but this may throw off the liquid in your recipe, so be careful using this substitution when baking cakes.

Brown sugar will remain soft if it is kept in an airtight container. To soften brown sugar place it in an ovenproof container and warm at 250 degrees until soft, or microwave on high for 30 seconds at a time until soft. Use it immediately as it will be harder than before when it cools! A 1 pound package of brown sugar equals about 2 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar.

Molasses - Molasses has a dark, sweet, smoky taste. It is created during the sugar refining process. Molasses is slightly less sweet than granulated sugar. Until sugar prices fell in the 1930's molasses was the primary sweetener in American kitchens. Sulphur dioxide is sometimes used to make molasses sweet. The term 'unsulphured molasses' just means sulphur was not used in the creation of your molasses and it should be the lightest and sweetest type. Measuring molasses is easier (and more accurate) if you grease the measuring cup first with a little cooking spray or butter. One 12 fluid ounce jar of molasses equals 1 1/2 cups. One cup equals 8 fluid ounces.

If you are making a vintage recipe I heartily recommend you spring for a jar of molasses. Molasses is the secret ingredient in many cookies, cakes, ham glazes and BBQ sauces. Granulated sugars will not taste the same. If you have a jar left over, you can use molasses in baked beans, ham, oatmeal, ice cream or added to syrup and butter on pancakes. One tablespoon of molasses provides 8% of your daily recommended iron and 4% of your calcium!

One cup of molasses equals1 cup honey. Bear in mind honey is sweeter than molasses and will change the flavor slightly. OR instead of 1 cup of molasses try 3/4 cup granulated sugar (brown is preferable) plus 1/4 cup water. The extra water (or other liquid) is called for to make up for the moisture in molasses. It is important to replace it if you're baking cakes or breads. Blackstrap molasses is the thickest, darkest and least sweet type of molasses and isn't recommended for baking.

Sugar Baking Tip: Baking relies on a bit more science than your average frosting recipe. Not only do the ingredients add flavor, they may also serve a specific function like making your cake rise, or binding ingredients together. For best results when baking, measure all your ingredients accurately; like leveling off your measuring cup with the edge of a knife and setting the cup on the counter when measuring liquids. Eat Naturally Sweet Recipes Your Entire Family Will Love

Even the busiest parents can significantly reduce the amount of refined sugar their child eats, and still let their child enjoy treats. I have three young children and they love treats and snacks, but I don't feel good about pumping them full of refined sugar. As a grown adult I can choose to educate myself about health and nutrition. I can learn to make foods that taste delicious and will nourish my body. But kids eat what they are provided. But it is disappointing and upsetting to find out how much is being added into baby food, food targeted to young children, and food marketed as "health food." Some of the biggest culprits are: yogurt, bread, breakfast cereal, mayonnaise, peanut butter, ketchup, spaghetti sauce, and many frozen dinners. The terms change to throw us off, but some of the most popular highly refined sugars will be listed as sucrose (table sugar), dextrose (corn sugar), and high-fructose corn syrup. This is so concerning because of the many health conditions that are correlated with sugar.

We need to educate ourselves so we understand just how much refined sugar our children (and ourselves) are consuming. We need to provide alternatives for them that we know are loaded with health and nutrients. Children are going to want sweets, so why not hand them something that will build their health as opposed to destroy it?

We all want to give our children the best opportunities in life. We go out of our way to create rich opportunities and experiences for our children. We spend time, money, and energy taking them to lessons, tutors, and classes. Why not create the opportunity for our children to have true health and vitality. If you feel like your child is healthy now, imagine what he or she might be like when filling his or her body with nutrient rich foods. You and your child could experience a new level of health!

Griff's Caribbean Grilled Turkey Burgers

Ingredients:

1.35 lb. ground turkey

1 egg, beaten

1 can (8 oz.) crushed pineapple, drained

3 tbsp. green onion, finely chopped

4 rounded tsp. dried parsley flakes

1 tbsp. McCormick® Caribbean Jerk Seasoning

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, blend well, by hand, the meat with all other
ingredients, and form into about seven small patties (or make fewer, but larger burgers if you like). Coat grill with a little oil or PAM® no-stick cooking spray. Grill burgers. IMPORTANT: Use canned, crushed pineapple in this recipe, NOT fresh! I tried it with fresh one time and the burgers fell apart and made a real mess! Serve these burgers on hamburger buns with lettuce and the mango salsa recipe below.

Griff's Mango Salsa

Ingredients:

2/3 cup chopped mango

2 tbsp. fresh squeezed lime juice

2 tbsp. fresh squeezed orange juice

4 rounded tsp. jalapeno peppers (with most of the seeds and membrane removed), very finely chopped.

4 rounded tsp. finely chopped red onions.

2 rounded tsp. finely chopped red bell peppers.

2 rounded tsp. finely chopped green bell peppers.

1 tsp. dried parsley flakes

1/2 tsp. Lawry's® seasoned pepper (or black pepper)

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients well and refrigerate for an hour or more before
serving. This salsa is the perfect compliment for the above Caribbean turkey
burgers and is great on grilled fish and chicken too!

Sweet Potato Salads and a Soup!

If you think that sweet potatoes are only for Thanksgiving, you are not one of the most versatile of natural foods! Try this simple, delicious recipes and you will think to change yours. Sweet Potato-Cranberry Salad

2 pounds sweet potatoes, sliced in 1 / 2 "

1 small red onion, chopped

1 cup chopped celery

1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard

2 tablespoons mango chutney

1 / 2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt

1 tablespoon cider vinegar, or taste

Steam the sweet potatoes until just tender, about 15-20 minutes. Once theyare done, rinse with cold water to a boil and drain stop.

Meanwhile, combine to give the other ingredients in a bowl. When the sweet potatoes are ready, mix them in. Chill until serving.

6-8 servings

Sweet Potato Salad with Pineapple

2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and in 1 / 4 "- 1 / 2" cubes

2 stalks celery, diced

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 bunch green onions, sliced

1 cup fresh orCanned pineapple, cut in 1 / 2 "tidbits

1 cup cooked, cooled barley

1 cup yogurt or fat-free mayonnaise

1 / 4 cup bottled mango chutney (optional)

1 / 4 cup chopped fresh mint or parsley leaves (optional)

Cook the sweet potato cubes until just tender, either steam them in a steamer for 8-10 minutes, or cook them in a pot of boiling water for about 5 minutes. rinse under cold water to stop cooking, drain.

Combine the sweetPotato cubes with remaining ingredients. Serve at room temperature or chilled.

Sweet Potato Bisque

1 onion, chopped

2 stalks celery, chopped

3 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and diced

8 cups of broth

1 tablespoon mild curry powder

2 teaspoons thyme

1 teaspoon freshly ground black or white pepper

Pinch of cayenne pepper, to taste

1 / 4 cup brandy (optional)

2 cups coconut milk or lightSoy milk

Combine the onion, celery, sweet potatoes, broth, curry and pepper in a large pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and let simmer, 30-40 minutes, or until potatoes are soft. Remove with a slotted spoon to remove about 2 cups of vegetables and set aside. Puree the remaining soup with a hand blender until it is quite smooth. Return the vegetables to the pot, stir in the brandy and coconut or soy milk, and heat through.

Moroccan Chicken Recipe - Chicken Breasts Moroccan Style


The sauce in this Moroccan Chicken recipe is tasty but not too sharp. Why I love Moroccan cuisine. This particular recipe uses boneless chicken breast and the sauce is a delicious mix of enjoying sweet, pungent and salty flavors that even a non-curry eaters should.

These breast chicken recipe uses most of the traditional Moroccan spices such as cumin, cinnamon and turmeric. Lemons are another typical ingredient in Moroccan cuisine. This> Recipe is very simple, but the exotic flavors and aromas from the spices make it seem more complex.

Moroccan Chicken Recipe

4-6 boneless chicken breast fillets
1 teaspoon (5 ml) lemon juice
1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground black pepper
3 tablespoons (45 ml) olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground cinnamon
1& 1 / 2 teaspoon (7.5 ml) ground cumin
1 / 4 tsp (1.25ml) turmeric
200 ml tomato & chilli sauce
1 teaspoon (5 ml) chicken stock
1 / 2 cup (125 ml) water
1 teaspoon (5 ml) Garlic & Herb
1 / 2 cup (125 ml) yogurt (optional)
2-3 tablespoons (30-45 ml) honey
1 / 4 cup (25 g) flaked almonds

How to Cook Moroccan style chicken breast

Preheat the oven to 200 ° C.
Season the breasts with lemon juice, pepper and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Leave it, while thesauce.

Ingredients:

1 cup onion, finely chopped

1 cup red pepper, finely chopped

½ cup whole kernel corn, drained

½ cup greenOnions, chives or chopped

1 Scotch bonnet pepper, seeds removed and diced or 1 tbsp Bajan pepper sauce

1 cup flour, sifted

1 tablespoon baking powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons melted butter

2 tablespoons oil plus oil for frying

1 egg, lightly beaten

½ cup milk

1 pounds salted cod, cooked and flaked

Directions:

Enjoy salted cod fish in water for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, changing water at least threeTimes.

If the dough is too watery, add sifted flour to achieve the desired consistency.

In a large deep pan orFryer, heat cooking oil to a temperature of 340 degrees F. Drop dough from spoon into hot oil, but not mass. Cook until they are golden brown and drain on paper towels. Fish cakes can be kept warm in a 250 degree F oven until ready to serve. Serve with tartar or Bajan Sweet Chili Dip.

Chef's Note: Dip the spoon into the hot oil to coat each time dough to prevent sticking to the spoon.

Bajan Tartar Sauce

½ cup wholeMayonnaise

2 tablespoons mustard

2 tablespoons drained sweet taste

1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley

1 tablespoon finely chopped onion

Bajan pepper sauce to taste

Pinch of sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

Place all ingredients in a bowl and chill at least an hour before serving.

It is understandable when one considers that a national restaurant tastes in cities and towns from Maine to California and Washington to Florida have please. And that's impossible.

This stuff is good. Really good.

It is smokey and spicy and sweet. It's everything you want in a barbecue glaze.

Is it the best ever? Of course not. But it is perhaps the best chain be sauce I have ever eaten.

TGI Friday's Jack Daniels BarbecueGlaze

Ingredients:

1 head garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 / 4 cup water
1 cup pineapple juice
1 / 4 cup teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 1 / 4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons chopped white onion
1 tablespoon Jack Daniels Whiskey
1 tablespoon crushed pineapple
1 / 4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions:

Roasted Garlic:

Cut about 1 / 2 inch off the top of the garlic and cut the roots off, it is set flat.
Remove the mostthe papery skin of garlic but enough to make it stay together.
Place garlic in a small baking dish and drizzle with the olive oil.
Cover with lid or foil
Bake at 325 for 1 hour.
Remove and cool.

Mix and simmer:

Combine water, pineapple juice, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce and brown sugar in a medium saucepan.
Simmer over medium / high heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture boils.
Reduce heat until the mixture is just simmering.

Add roasted garlic

PressSides of the head of garlic until the garlic is squeezed out (it should be the consistency of butter)
Measure 2 teaspoons.
Whisk in the pot.

Bring it all together

Add release all remaining ingredients and stir.
Let the mixture cook for 40-50 minutes or until reduced the sauce by about 1 / 2. It should be thick and syrupy.

As with any sugar-based sauce, if you cook with your barbecue, just for the sauce in the last 5 to 10 minutes, so as not to burnSugar.

Serve extra on the side for dipping. You can double the recipe.

Bombay Ice Halwa

Bombay Ice Halwa is a famous Indian sweet. Its delicious. Indian dishes are famous for being spicy and also to be sweet. The recipe for this halwa is given below.

Ingredients:

1. a cup of fine white meal

2. a cup of ghee (clarified butter)

3. Four cups of sugar

4. Four cups cold milk

5. Fifteen almonds thinly slivered

6. Fifteen pistachios thinly slivered

7. Half tsp. Cardamom granules crushed coarsely

8.Three-Four pinches saffron threads crushed

9. 1 tsp.rose water

10. Two large clean thick plastic sheets (about 2 sq. feet each)

11. A few meters wax paper proof.

Method:

1. Mix almonds, pistachios, cardamom, saffron and set aside.

2. Grease two leaves on one side and set aside.

3. Mix semolina, ghee, sugar, milk in a large heavy pan.

4. Place on the stove over high heat, bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

5. Reduce heat;formed under constant stirring until a very soft dough.

6. Take off heat, add rose water and two tablespoons. Ghee.

7. Temper by kneading with a spatula until smooth.

8. Place flattened lump in the middle of a sheet of greased side up.

9. Cover with the second, fat side down.

10. Roll as thin as possible with a large rolling pin.

11. Almost done, sprinkle mixed topping evenly over halwa.

12. Carefully remove top sheet of finish rolling.

13. MarkPieces as desired, with a pizza cutter and still soft.

14. Cut similar pieces from grease proof paper. Keep aside.

Best recipe for salsa

This recipe for salsa is one of my favorites for many reasons. It is easy to do and takes no time to put together. It does not cost very much at all and I usually have most ingredients on hand. When planning for a party you can a day or two in advance, and it's actually better to do so. Just do not make too far in advance, or the temptation to eat it before you all get-together is too big!

Ingredients:
2 large cans diced tomatoes
2 Long HotPeppers
2 Cloves garlic
1 / 2 onion (white, yellow, red, or combo)
1 / 2 bunch coriander
Lime Juice
Black pepper

Preparation:
Char the skin of peppers by over a flame on the stove. You will hear clicking sounds and the skin is black. Once the entire pepper is black, in Ziploc bag for a few minutes. The bag will be on steam and make it easier to solve for the skin. Once cooled, rinse the pepper in the sink. This makes it easy to remove theSkin. Split the pepper to remove seeds (if you can it as very sharp in this case, leave some or all of the seeds). In a food processor, blender mix all ingredients and pour into a medium to large bowl. Lime juice and pepper to taste. Let salsa for at least an hour before serving so that all the flavors come together to sit refrigerated.

Notes:
You can use different peppers if you like mild or spicy taste. I think to have the long hot peppersgreat taste with just enough kick for most people.

You can simply cut the whole recipe in half for a simple dinner or double size or even triple the recipe for a large group.

I typically mix all ingredients until smooth, but you can use it as chunky as you like.

Jazz to the recipe even more, you can add black beans and corn. Add a few tablespoons of salsa diced mango, papaya, pineapple and a sweet and spicy fruit salsa. AlsoBest way to a big pile and then Jazz have three separate parts and salsas. Most people will think you made them separately, and spent a lot of time in the kitchen! Experiment with other flavors are endless and the possibilities.

Kickin 'Sweet Southern Cornbread

My husband has me hooked his sweet southern style corn bread many years ago, when I told him I do not like corn bread. He went to have my best corn bread I ever tasted, and I'm interested in his corn bread ever since.

A staple in our house table, with chili, meat loaf, or just by itself ... We even make it to breakfast!

Type: Bread

Serve with: butter, softened

Preparation time: 8 min

Cook: 25-30 minutes

Yield: 18 'or 12 square bread muffins

Ingredients:

1 3 / 4 cups yellow corn flour - you can white corn flour.

2 Eggs - Large

2 1 / 3 cups milk - butter milk is even better!

1 / 2 cup sugar - use white sugar.

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon sea salt

1 / 8 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 tablespoon butter - bacon fat works surprisingly well.

2 / 3 cup whole kernel corn - * Optional

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 425 F.

2. Grease with butter or bacon a cast iron pan or an 8 "square baking pan.

3. In a bowl, add all dry ingredients and stir.

4. In another bowl, break eggs and stir until creamy, then add milk or butter milk and mix.

5. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, mix until blended. Let soften for 10 minutes sitting corn flour.

6. Pour into baking dish and place in oven.

7. Bake approximately25-30 min, or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.

8. Serve with softened butter and enjoy!

Filipino Recipes - Sweet and Sour Meatballs - Pinoy Food

Sweet and sour meatballs recipe is quick and easy recipe to make a lot. This is ideal for dinner parties because it is not a lot of trouble in the preparation. This can be a pressure cooker or meat balls fried in a pan. This recipe perfectly with plain rice.

Ingredients:

Salt - to taste
Soy sauce

Beef or pork - 1 kilo ground

Sauce mix

Cooking oil
Black pepper - fresh ground
Flour - 2 tbsp
Water - ½ cup

Salt - ½ tbsp
Onion - 1 chopped
Garlic - 4 tablespoons, minced
Pepper - 1 cut along
Carrot - 1, sliced
Pineapple - 1 can sliced (set the juice aside)

Cooking method:

Get you give yourself a large bowl and mix thoroughly beef (orPork), onions, garlic, eggs and flour. With pepper, soy sauce and salt to desired taste. Make balls about 1-inch diameter from the mixture. Fry until golden brown the meatballs. Strain and allow to drain then. Place them on a plate with paper towels to get rid of excess oil. Place the meatballs in a large plate then set aside.
In a medium saute pan onion and garlic. Add the carrots and pineapple.
Simmer about 10 minutes. Add water, salt,Flour, soy sauce, sugar and pineapple juice. Simmer until the mixture reaches a sticky consistency. Add the sliced peppers and cook for another minute.
Slowly pour hot sauce mixture over the meatballs. Serve hot and enjoy with rice!

Coconut Cherry Cupcakes - Really humidity and deliciously sweet

For me freshly baked muffins are always a childhood favorite. I remember waiting for the icing from the bowl to lick after my mother would bake. This delicious recipe dish you have your children want to lick as. These treats can be described and sweet, like light, fluffy.

Note: You may want candied cherries for added moisture to use.

Ingredients:


8 tablespoons or 1 / 4 pound of butter.



1 / 2 cupSugar.



2 tablespoons milk.



2 eggs.



5 / 8 cup self-rising flour.



1 / 2 teaspoon baking powder



2 / 3 cup unsweetened dry coconut



4 ounces cherries cut.



12 (decorative) fresh cherries.

Frosting:


4 tablespoons butter



1 cup powdered sugar.



1 tablespoon milk.



Baking Instructions:

Cut Out Cookies recipe over 100 years old

Remember you smell freshly baked cookies when you came home from school? Remember to help your mother bake and decorate the cookies, especially at Christmas time. If the answer is yes read.

Bake cookies are definitely a good way to help your children be included in the vacation planning and a great gift.

This was my grandmothers recipe for cut out cookies for all occasions. You can mat or decorated as you like.

When I was growing upuntil we could not always wait for these delicious cookies. Today, taste the cookies cut out is very different than this great recipe. I did not want to lose, so I'm posting it today.

I am very proud, happy to share this recipe with you I think it would be my grandmother.
Try it and see what you think. Let me know if you like.

½ cup butter

½ cup sugar

½ cup brown sugar

3 cups flour

2 eggs

1½ teaspoon water

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon nutmeg

½ teaspoon vanilla

Add white and brown sugar cream slowly good.

Eggs, add water and vanilla.

Mix and sift dry ingredients alternately with wet ingredients.

Chill ½ hour before rolling out dough.

Roll out the dough and place cookie cutters on the dough.

Then remove the excess dough and bells on greased baking sheet.

Sweet Twist on Tamales

Tamales are a wonderful meal of cheese filling in a corn masa shell made. The whole thing is steamed while wrapped in a corn husk. If it is done, you have a delicious traditional Mexican dish. The great thing about tamales is post them savory or sweet. Fill them with meat, vegetables, fruit or sweet filling. They love all the variations.

It may take some practice to perfect your tamales, but once you have mastered it, you will be ablemake large batches ahead of time and freeze them until you need them. Since tamales a big company, it was eligible for the families together to make large quantities together.

If you filled the tamales with apples, like to experiment a bit with other fruit fillings. You should also try savory versions for your main meal to make.

Recipe for sweet tamales

Tamales can be either savory or sweet.

What You Need to Know

4 ozdried corn husks (about 32 pods)
1-1/4 cups masa harina
1-1/4 cups boiling water

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla
1 / 2 cup vegetable oil shortening

How to do it

Separate the corn husks and enjoy it in a large bowl of hot water for about an hour. They should be smooth.

In a mediumBowl, 1-1/4 cups of boiling water to the masa harina. Beat smooth with a wooden spoon. The dough with plastic wrap and let it cool down to room temperature, about an hour.

Fill the center of each bowl with 2 tablespoons of masa dough. Place 1 heaping teaspoon of the fruit in the middle of the dough. Fold the long sides so they cover the filling. Tie the ends of the tamale closed with a strip of peel. Repeat until all are finished 24th Place them upright, leaning against each other, the top of the steamer.

Place the steamer over a pot of boiling water over medium heat. Cover. Steam, easy to separate the chaff from the Tamale,about an hour.
